What are friends for?

For the past several weeks, it seems that life for most of us around the world has been placed “on hold.” Businesses have temporarily closed; schools have shut their doors, parks and community hubs are off limits to the public. In times like these, it is important that we all have someone to reach out to.

Social media is a great way to stay connected to friends and family around the world. There is no limit to the content that we can share through photos, videos, thoughts and ideas and so much more, however, it is also important to remind ourselves that there is no true replacement for real-time conversations with the people that we enjoy. There is something very special about seeing a person’s expression and hearing their voice that brings us together in a more intimate and meaningful way. So try checking-in with a video call to your parents, see what your siblings, nieces/nephews are up to or give a shout to a friend to let them know you are thinking about them. You may be surprised by how good it may make you both feel! ACCESS is also pleased to offer you the opportunity to join other international students in our Virtual Classes (learn more here). This is a great way to improve your speaking and conversations skills while making friends from around the world! See you in class!
